Or did you mean Forge instead of CurseForge? Those two aren't directly related, despite the similar name. You can use them independently of each other or together, but you can't use one of them instead of the other because they are completley different things. None of this changes if we are talking about fabric or forge, they are essentially the same in this regard.įabric is a mod API, CurseForge is a website that hosts mods (including Fabric mods). It usually does this by separating each instance into it's own folder, each with their own mods folder, version, etc. The idea of multiple instances is to try and help keep you from inadvertently opening a world in the wrong version, thereby corrupting it, or by loading a world without it's required mods, thereby removing all items from said mod (it might also corrupt that world). All of the ones I listed are 100% trust worthy, they are all main stream modded launchers used by the community with thousands if not millions of users. they provide convenient toggles that do this disabled function for you (it's still just the same thing in the background though). You can totally do this manually, it's just a pain in the butt.įor other launchers, they try and make the process much simpler. for example, in the various launchers, when you toggle a mod off, they just change the name from voxelmap.jar to (or something similar, this is just an example). You can disable and enable mods manually, just change the file name. (#spoiler) = neat!
